Obituary
At the age of six years he came with his parents to Kokoma, Indiana,
his parents were Quakers but he at the age of twenty five years joined the
Methodist church, remaining a member until his death which occured after a brief illness Nov 11, 1917 at Ogden Utah.
He was a carpenter and contractor by trade, having learned the trade
in Kokoma, Indiana, following same most of his life. He came to Iowa in 1852 was in Lima county for a year, then went to Toledo, about 1854 he came to Iowa Falls, then returning to Toledo.
He was married to Jane Fisher 8 Jun 1856.
He then returned to Iowa Falls, where he bought out a pump business and conducted same for several years. In 1855 he bought a hardware store which he conducted business for 15 years. He built Ellsworth College first building; at Iowa Falls in 1890 or 91. In 1892 went to Fort Dodge where he built Tobin College. He was one of the leading contributors of this place during his residence here.
He left in 1901 for Denver, Colorado, his wife died there in 1910 and she was buried in Shelton, Nebraska. He went to his son C.L. Haworth who lives in Boise, Idaho. He superintended the building of a fine residence for his son at that place.
Two years ago he went to Ogden, Utah. He was a very active man for his age. He was helping his son Nathan build a house in Ogden at the time of sickness and death.
